It makes me heartsick that you are burdened this way, and I agree that these none of us should take our rights for granted.

I hate to say this but your fear is justified. I never leave home without my passport. I born in the USA. My parents , grandparents, great grandparents and probably my great great grandparents were born here. But I carry my passport because I am African American. I am a lawyer a graduate of two Ivy League schools. But I too am afraid.

I, too, am a naturalized citizen and was born in Australia. Juust last week, my British girlfriend, who is also naturalized, called me and asked if I was worried. I am. At this point, ALL of us should be. Our birthplace pales in the face of the monstrous acts of this Administration.

Vivia, I hate that you have that anxiety - but I don’t blame you. I am sickened by so much of what Trump and his admin are doing, but turning Americans against Americans by trying to make us fear and revile anyone who looks or thinks even slightly differently is one of the most evil. It is equally sickening that his strategy seems to work on so many. p.s. sending you big hugs from CT!
